Beans, peas, and lentils make up legumes, or as they are known in the agriculture community, pulses. Legumes meet today’s low-fat, high fibre diet recommendations and are an excellent addition to family diets.

Our mixes have:

  • low prep time–only 2-3 ingredients need to be added. No bones are necessary. But the package still yields a down-home, made from scratch taste.
  • value for your money– our mixes make 6 hungry adult servings and there will usually be some leftovers. (Bean soups lend themselves well to freezing).

Our dry Stonehouse Soup Mix is a healthy, hearty medley of lentils, navy beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, green and yellow split peas, along with our special spice pack and dehydrated vegetables.   Our Stonehouse Soup Mix makes up 10-12 cups of a traditional ham & bean style soup. The nutritional assessment on this product indicates that it is free of fat, is a very good source of fibre (6 g. per serving), and a good source of iron and cholesterol free.    You can let this one cook all day in the slow cooker or on the stove top for a quicker method.   This is a great one to have on hand for the extra ham after Easter,  Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years.  Freeze the extra soup for other meals.


DILL PEA SOUP MIX – 350 g

Our dry Dill Pea Soup Mix contains lentils, yellow & green split peas, our special seasoning and dehydrated vegetables.   The Dill Pea Soup Mix is a fabulous harmonization between the dill and the hearty pea soup that this mix makes.  This soup mix is free of fat, is a good source of fibre (3 g per serving), a good source of iron and cholesterol free.  You can cook this one up with ham, or without as a vegetarian alternative, or as a great Borscht (See recipes under the recipe section of the web page).  Cook our dill pea soup on your stove top or in a crock pot.  Freeze any soup leftovers.

Our dry Beef and Barley Soup Mix is a hands down winner!  This simple to make soup mix will satisfy most any appetite.  Our Beef and Barley soup mix contains barley, dehydrated veggies, and our special seasoning mix which gives it a rich beefy taste. All that needs  to be  added is the beef  & tomato juice or tomatoes.   This soup mix is free of fat; is a good source of fibre (3 g per serving) and cholesterol free.  This one can simmer on your stove for a hour or in your slow cooker for the day,  giving you a delectable aroma of home cooked beef and barley soup.  Freeze any leftovers for another meal. (Good Luck with that one, there is usually none left!)

Our dry Texas Tortilla Soup Mix is a great opening act for a  barbecue, or for your Mexican inspired meals or a meal in itself.  Our Texas Tortilla Soup Mix contains pre-soaked red Mexican style beans, mildly spicy Tex-Mex seasoning & dehydrated vegetables. This soup is free of fat, low in sodium, a very high source of fibre, a good source of Vitamin C and iron.  Freeze the leftover soup for another meal.

Black Bean Chili Mix

Our dry Black Bean Chili Mix gives a new twist on the traditional chili and livens things up. Our Black Bean Chili Mix contains pre-soaked black beans, seasoning, and dehydrated vegetables. This is a very versatile box of possibilities and can be made as a soup, chili, or a wonderful dip (Check out the recipe section of our web page for the recipes).  The Black Bean Chili Mix is very low in fat, a very high source of fibre (7 g per serving), low in sodium, a good source of vitamin C, a good source of iron and cholesterol free.  Freeze your cooked soup, chili or dip for another day.

Lentil Rice Pilaff

Our Lentil & Rice Pilaf is a delightful blend of 4 grains–lentils, barley, brown rice, wild rice finished off with a curry-flavored seasoning package  and dehydrated veggies.  Our Lentil & Rice Pilaf works great as the center of the meal or as a side dish.  This one  cooks up great in the rice cooker too, just take out the rice as soon as the rice cooker is finished cooking.

Spanish Beans and Rice

Our dry Spanish Beans & Rice Casserole Mix contains pre-soaked red Mexican beans & brown rice, with mild Southern seasoning & dehydrated veggies.  This one can also be the center attraction or a side dish.  This one is just a blank slate looking for your ideas.  Click on the nutritional analysis and see what it has!


COUNTRY VEGETABLE CHOWDER –150 g

Our dry Country Vegetable Chowder can be used on its own or as a base to make corn, potato, celery, carrot, mushroom or even clam chowder. You only have to add milk and the veggie of your choice, (and the clams if you want a clam chowder). It has dried veggies, and the seasoning/thickener package. It makes 10 cups of soup.  Country Vegetable Chowder has a preparation time of approximately 5 minutes (depending how creative you are) and a cooking time of approximately 20 – 25 minutes.  The Country Chowder works great with non-fat milk.  Freeze the leftovers for some great meals later.


MINESTRONE SOUP BASE — 150 g

Our Minestrone Soup Base contains Italian spices, veggies, and orzo pasta to make a 10 cup pot of  soup. You just add tomato juice or canned tomatoes, pre-cooked beans or lentils of your choice and, perhaps Italian sausage to jazz it up.  This product takes approximately 5 minutes to prepare and a 1/2 hour to cook.


Glenlochar Kitchens products all contain dried veggies and seasonings, and the raw grains, beans, peas and lentils. There is no MSG added in any product. The Soup Base contains no trans fats as Canola oil is being used.
